JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Legal Affairs Officer to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will provide legal and administrative support to the organization and assist management in ensuring that company activities, contracts, documentation, and procedures comply with applicable UAE laws and regulations.
The ideal candidate should have relevant UAE experience, strong knowledge of legal documentation and government procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle confidential matters professionally.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare, review, and maintain contracts, agreements, letters, notices, undertakings, and other legal documents.
- Review contractual terms and identify potential legal, commercial, and compliance concerns.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records of contracts, legal documents, correspondence, and regulatory matters.
- Monitor contract expiry dates, renewal dates, contractual obligations, and important legal deadlines.
- Conduct legal research on UAE laws, regulations, and government requirements relevant to the organization's activities.
- Prepare summaries and reports regarding relevant legal and regulatory matters for management.
- Assist in identifying compliance risks and support the implementation of appropriate corrective actions.
- Coordinate with UAE government departments and regulatory authorities regarding legal, licensing, compliance, and administrative matters.
- Follow up on government applications, submissions, approvals, notices, and other official requirements.
- Assist with legal notices, claims, disputes, complaints, and other legal matters.
- Prepare supporting documentation and information for management and external legal counsel.
- Coordinate with external lawyers, legal consultants, and other professional representatives when required.
- Assist with employment and labour-related documentation and legal matters.
- Support management and HR in maintaining compliance with applicable UAE employment regulations.
- Draft professional correspondence in Arabic and English when required.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive company, employee, contractual, and legal information.
- Provide legal and administrative support to management as required.
- Prepare regular updates and reports on ongoing legal and regulatory matters.
- Perform other duties related to legal affairs and compliance as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Legal Studies, or a related field.
- Previous experience in legal affairs, legal administration, compliance, or a related position.
- UAE work experience is mandatory.
- Good knowledge of UAE laws, regulations, and government procedures.
- Arabic speaker is mandatory.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Valid UAE Driving License is mandatory.
- Strong legal research, analytical, documentation, and contract review skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard document management systems.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with management, government authorities, and external legal representatives.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience working within a UAE-based company or corporate environment.
- Experience dealing with UAE government authorities.
- Experience in contract administration and legal documentation.
- Experience handling employment and labour-related matters.
- Experience coordinating with law firms or external legal consultants.
- Familiarity with Abu Dhabi government procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Immediate availability or short notice period is preferred.
