We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Midwife (DoH Licensed) with specialized expertise in breastfeeding and lactation support. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting mothers and newborns during the postnatal period, ensuring safe recovery, promoting maternal-infant bonding, and delivering evidence-based breastfeeding guidance in both homecare and clinical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive postnatal assessments for mothers and newborns, ensuring proper recovery and early identification of complications
- Provide expert breastfeeding and lactation support, including guidance on latch techniques, positioning, milk supply, and pain management
- Educate mothers and families on infant feeding practices, expressing and storing breast milk, and safe newborn care
- Identify and manage breastfeeding challenges such as low milk supply, mastitis, and latch difficulties (including tongue-tie awareness)
- Support maternal confidence and emotional wellbeing through continuous guidance and reassurance
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, physicians, psychologists, dietitians, and social workers to deliver holistic care
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with Department of Health (DoH) regulations
- Participate in health promotion initiatives, awareness programs, and community workshops related to breastfeeding and maternal wellbeing
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Midwifery or Nursing with a Midwifery specialization
- Active Department of Health (DoH) License or eligibility to practice as a Midwife in Abu Dhabi
- Certification in Lactation Counseling or IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) is preferred
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in postnatal care, maternal-child health, or a related field
- Experience in homecare or community-based maternal programs is an advantage
